Summer Camp

9am-12pm. Students 8 years old and up. Each week has a different art theme. Please plan to attend the whole week because there is a progression in the activities. However, if something happens, you can drop in for $30 a day.

June 16-20

Clay Week! Students will make simple slab projects on Monday and apply underglaze so they can be fired once and be ready to take home on Friday. Students will explore various hand building techniques and even get to try out the pottery wheel. They will try out our air dry clay and oven bake clay. They will have completed several objects by the end of the week.

June 23-27

Painting Week! Students will explore all the paint materials this week. We will start out with watercolor and watercolor pencils. Then move on to tempera and acrylic. Students will learn the color wheel, mixing colors, and complementary colors. We will also explore using Geli plates with collage and paint.

July 7-11

Drawing Week! Students will learn about all the various drawing materials. This will include pastels, oil pastels, color pencil, inks, and charcoal. We will explore 1 and 2 point perspective. We will also explore drawing with a grid and atmospheric perspective.

July 14-18

Repeat Clay Week!!! We had some students miss out on Clay Week so we are repeating it. Participants will make projects out of regular clay that we will then glaze and fire. We will also explore air dry clay and polymer clay.

July 21-25

Printmaking Week! Students will learn all the varieties of printmaking available. Students will carve their own simple stamps. We will learn about batik wax resist. We will carve foam designs that we then use for printmaking with paper and with fabric.

July 28- August 1

Sculpture week! Students will learn about paper mache and string paper mache. We will explore origami. We will make our own transparent wind chimes out of wire and thickened tissue paper. We will explore the ideas of sculpture and review famous artists.

August 4-8

Everything Art Week! Instead of having a progression on this week, we will have a different theme for each day. This allows parents to schedule different days or the whole week if desired. We will do a different art activity each day that is from the past week's activities.
